Let’s get real—most people freeze up before a cold call, not because they can’t sell, but because their HEAD isn’t in the right spot. After 30+ years cold calling, I can tell you: Mindset is the FUEL.

  • 1. Start Your Day With a Win
    Make your bed. (Yes, really.) Ticking off ANY small task builds momentum.
  • 2. 5-Minute Power Visualization
    Before the first dial, close your eyes. Picture a prospect saying “Yes.” FEEL that buzz for real.
  • 3. Micro-Journaling
    Write down ONE thing you did well yesterday—no matter how small. Build confidence:
    • "Left a strong voicemail."
    • "Got past a tough gatekeeper."
  • 4. Movement Equals Mindset
    Take a brisk 10-minute walk. Get the blood pumping. Sitting stiff = sounding stiff.
  • 5. Block Your Dials
    Schedule calling sprints: 30 minutes on, 10 minutes off. No multitasking. I saw a 32% increase in connect rates when reps stick to call sprints instead of dragging out calls all day.
  • 6. Gamify the Grind
    Set micro-goals:
    • 10 dials, THEN coffee.
    • 2 conversations, THEN check email.
    Track on sticky notes! Number of accepted meetings I booked last month after 5 PM? 7. Those were the last calls of the day, when I pushed for ONE more.

    When you get hung up on (and you WILL), don’t stew. Say "NEXT" out loud, grab a sip of water, and dial again. I average 14 no’s for every yes. Expect it. Move on.

    Queue up a song that makes you feel like a boss. (My go-to: AC/DC’s "Back In Black.")

Look—most reps think confidence comes from results. WRONG. It’s daily habits that build it. Your mindset doesn’t just make you feel better; it shows in your energy, your voice, your CLOSE rate.
